Alexandria, VA - October 16th, 2010– Studio In-Sight, a working art studio in Montgomery County, MD will have a brand new show of paintings and drawings at St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub from January 3rd - January 31st. Opening reception is on Sunday, January 10th from 2pm- 4pm.

Monday – Friday: 6 am – 10 pm,
Saturday: 7 am – 10 pm, Sunday: 7 am – 6 pm

St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub is located in the heart of the historic Del Ray community of Alexandria, VA. Founded in 1996, St. Elmo’s has become a catalyst to local artists, musicians, politicians and various neighborhood groups. The cafe’s menu includes coffees from around the world supplied by local roaster The Daily Roast, a wide array of delicious and all natural good foods.

The Studio In-Sight aims to bring space and inspiration to artists who may be outside the mainstream. Artists of the Studio In-Sight are clients at St. Luke’s House, a psychiatric rehabilitation facility in Montgomery County Maryland that serves those living with a chronic and persistent mental illness. The studio is a part of the Life Skills Program whose mission is to guide, train, and empower the clients in a social and supportive atmosphere. The studio is dedicated to artists who want to work as artists. The Studio staff allows art to happen in a safe and nurturing environment and finds ways to share what is created for the benefit of the artists and for the community which we all share. Specially trained staff support and provide guidance as needed.

Studio In-Sight is proud to be the home of local artists such as Paul Spratlin, who fuses physics, interstellar phenomena, and design in intricate complex drawings, Vicki Perraut who develops large delicate paintings of colorful flowers and geometric shapes, and Robb Williams who blends sculptural elements and lyrical wordplay into painting and drawing. The current exhibit provides an opportunity for these artists and others to showcase their strongest work from past and present.
