St. Luke’s House’s award-winning Back to Work Program helps people with serious and persistent mental illness to choose, get and keep a job. This individualized service has helped thousands of individuals successfully return to work.
If you are interested in supported employment, including psychiatric vocational counseling, you may apply for an internship or a volunteer position in our Back to Work Program, volunteer responsibilities include:
• Assist individuals in identifying careers which match their abilities, interests and past employment experiences.
• Work closely with each candidate to successfully match each person to an appropriate job. Identify the individuals’ strengths in the area of job search and support clients in resume and cover letter writing, interview presentation, accessing community resources for their job search and disclosing their disability to potential employers.
• Work with the business community, marketing the Back to Work Program, determining employment needs within the community and being a liaison between the employer and the client.
• Assess the clients’ strengths with maintaining employment and determine where psychiatric vocational support services will be necessary. Provide on-the-job support to the individual, promoting job acquisition, skill development and job independence. Provide technical assistance to employers,
• Continue to provide psychiatric vocational support services for as long as is necessary.
Candidates need to have their own vehicle and no more than 2 points on their driving record, as they will need to use their own vehicle for work.
St. Luke’s House offers excellent training, mileage reimbursement, cell phone stipend, flexible schedule and, for those requiring it, guaranteed licensed clinical supervision.
