Residential Counselor

St. Luke’s House Inc., is a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program, serving clients who are diagnosed with a serious and persistent mental illness. Our community-based residential program provides individualized therapeutic services in a supportive residential setting.

We are currently accepting resumes for Residential Counselors. These individuals will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

Residential Rehabilitation: Assist and instruct clients in residential living skills such as menu planning, shopping, cleaning budgeting and participating in leisure therapeutic recreational activities. Counselors must also provide counseling, behavior management and crisis intervention as well as monitor medication to ensure compliance with medical instruction.

Community Counseling Services: Assess client needs, develop goals and resources and coordinate client services including quarterly meetings with treatment providers.

Administrative/Facilities Duties: Maintain and submit client records and forms. Assist with maintenance of facilities to comply with licensing and contractual requirements and in keeping general cleanliness standards.

Team Responsibilities: Participate in weekly case consultations and staff meetings, Help develop positive relationships with neighbors and the community. Be involved in and contribute to program and administrative projects, meetings, committees, trainings and tasks assigned.

Rehabilitation Coordinator

St. Luke’s House is seeking a Full-time Rehab Coordinator to join the Employment Focus Cluster II (EFC II) Team.

This individual will plan, develop, coordinate and document all services received by their client caseload including Vocational and Life Skills programs. Acting as Client Advocate he or she will communicate their clients’ progress to both internal and external treatment teams and ensure adequate communication is continuing between all treatment teams. The Rehab Coordinator will also work to assess their clients’ needs for living in the community and thus develop goals in collaboration with their clients.

Applicants must have their own transportation and a valid driver’s license with no more than 2 points on the driving record as part of their responsibilities is transporting clients when required by individual treatment plans.

A bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, counseling or related field is required. We are also looking for an individual with at least 1 year of experience working with the mentally ill. Multiple years of experience may also be substituted for a relevant degree.

Program Manager — McAuliffe House

St. Luke’s House has an opening for a Program Manager at McAuliffe House, an alternative to hospitalization program. Under the direction and supervision of the Program Director, responsibilities of the position include:

  • Serve as the clinical supervisor for the Crisis Residential Services program including: hiring, training and supervising the mental health professionals, crisis counselors, students and volunteers;
  • Provide weekly supervision and scheduled performance reviews to Crisis Residential Services staff, including mental health professionals, crisis counselors, student and volunteers as well as coordinate and participate in weekly staff meetings;
  • Oversee staff development and implementation of individual treatment plans for every client admitted to the Crisis Residential Services program;
  • Assure compliance with all contractual and COMAR requirements for service provision;
  • Develop and track documentation for all consumers according to COMAR regulations for Crisis Residential Services;
  • Work with community providers to develop integrated treatment and disposition plans;
  • Develop a needs assessment with each client and assign staff to provide case management, linkage, advocacy and support as indicated;
  • Track authorizations, census, psychiatric evaluations, billings and other financial documentation as needed;
  • Monitor expenses, manage petty cash and maintain facility;
  • Represent the Agency at Crisis Residential Services meetings at the state and local level;
  • Monitor community relations and address concerns;
  • Participate in and contribute to program and administrative projects, meetings, committees, trainings and tasks as assigned;
  • Provide transportation to clients when needed;

A Master’s degree in Social Work or equivalent is needed as well as a current license as a mental health professional. Additionally, three to five years of experience working with serious and persistent mental illness is required.

Career Transition Specialist

St. Luke’s House is seeking full and part-time Career Transition Specialists to provide vocational/educational support and case management services for 16-21 year old youth with emotional disabilities.

Duties include:

  • Conducting skills assessment in the areas of work, independent living, family and social skills.
  • Coordinating and advocating with community service providers, schools, and families for necessary supports for a successful transition.
  • Providing individualized assistance in identifying transition, career and/or educational goals which includes the following:
    • Career education and career development
    • College or vocational education, development and placement
    • Job development and job placement
    • Family support services
    • Identification of supplementary service needs
    • Identification and linkage with community resources

Position Requirements:

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and experience working with youth/young adults with serious emotional problems.
  • Use of personal vehicle is required — mileage is reimbursed.
  • Maximum of 2 points on your driving record.
  • Mobile Phone — monthly stipend is provided.
  • Successful completion of background checks required by statute or program’s contractual agreements.

Supported Employment Specialist

St. Luke’s Award Winning Supported Employment Program is looking for an enthusiastic “go-getter” to work as a Full-time Supported Employment Specialist. Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of clients with chronic mental illness
  • Assisting clients in choosing, finding and maintaining employment
  • Providing job development, vocational counseling and job coaching

You will also work closely with the business community and with other SLH teams within the agency.

You must have your own transportation and be willing to work some evenings and weekends meeting with clients both at home and at work.

Work hours may vary and do allow for a flexible schedule. All interested candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field. Four years of experience may be substituted for the degree. Prior experience working with persistently mentally ill clients is preferred but not required.
